I cant even believe it’s already Christmas. It doesnt feel like the Christmas season at all because it’s really hot here (not that I’ve ever actually had a cold Christmas) but it still helps me stay focused and NOT trunky.
The good news is that my companion can quote “It’s a Wonderful Life” with me, so we’ll definitely be reenacting that movie this year, lol.
Oh yeah, so there’s this little 80 year old woman that lives down the street from us. She lives alone and is ALWAYS outside working in her garden, yet always seems kind of lonely, so we stopped and talked to her the other day. And she was so happy to talk with us, that she gave us a TON of spinach from her garden. Like overflowing bag full of spinach. I cant even handle how giving and selfless some of the people are here, to give two random foreign girls food to eat, just because. The scripture that says “and take no thought for what ye shall eat” is TRUE.
This week we had a Christmas activity with the Familia Zanni. We made cookies and cards for the little grandmas and grandpas, listened to Christmas music (until “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” came on, worst song ever) and played fun games. But the HIGHLIGHT of it all was when we went to an old folks home to deliver the cookies. We chatted with them and got to hear about their lives and it was soooo great. One lady asked me about 12 times if I had a boyfriend, and then advised me to find someone handsome and with money. OKAY. hahaha.
BUT then we sang Christmas hymns to them. And we were definitely not the only ones singing. You could hear the angels on the other side of the veil singing with us, it was the most incredible spirit ever. The people just lit up as we sang, and I realized just how Christ feels for these people. It blows my mind that God gave us His Son, so that we could all be saved, so that we could all be happy, and so that we could all live with Him again. I LOVE being a missionary and having this opportunity to invite ALL to come unto Christ. I know He lives. I know He loves us. And I hope that each one of us can look outward rather than inward, so that we can truly feel His love in our lives.
“Oh Come Let Us Adore Him” through our words and deeds this Christmas season!!!
Love you all so much!!
