HEY FAMILY
I swear, each week goes by faster and faster!!
First off, Happy First Day of Autumn! It is freezing cold here.  The weather took a total 180, from constantly sweating to shivering.  The humidity is so awesome!
Okay so this week I tried to install a faucet.  And the lady who we rent from, who lives next door, showed us where to turn the water off, but she didn’t mention that there was another handle in the back to turn it off.  So I take off the old faucet and the water COMPLETELY exploded on me.  Luckily it was really hot so it was like going swimming missionary style (okay that was a really bad joke).  But anyway, I still haven’t fixed the whole faucet issue because I’m afraid of what will happen, and also because it suddenly got REALLY COLD.
Also we´re visiting this man named Hugo.  But in spanish, you have to pronounce it “oogo”, because if you pronounce it like I’ve been doing, it translates to “juice”.  So I keep on saying, “hey, Vamos a visitar a Hugo” (in my north-american accent) and then I realize it translates to “hey lets go visit juice!”  So I’m working on getting out of the habit so I don’t call him juice to his face haha.
Anyways… This week is EASTER, meaning we get to remember even more than usual our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.  I don’t know if you’ve all seen the new video, but if you haven’t, WATCH IT.  Thanks to Jesus Christ, we can find NEW LIFE. We can be born again.  We can completely start over. We can live with our families again.  We can be made whole!  I will never fully comprehend all that Christ did for me, but it brings me SUCH JOY and COMFORT to know that there is someone who completely understands me, who loves me despite my weaknesses and mistakes, and who can give me NEW LIFE.  Hallelujah to the Savior of the Lord.  Think and ponder on HIM this week.  Ponder on what He’s done for YOU.  Think of how you can more fully follow Him.
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to hear my soul’s complaint.
He lives to silence all my fears.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.
I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVES.
Love you all so much!

Do You Love Me? Feed My Sheep

DSC01441[1]Hola Familia!

Like last week, I can’t even remember what happened this week.  The weeks go by too fast!!  But it was really weird because it was really cold (okay, cold in terms of Argentina, not in terms of Idaho) but it was really refreshing because I was getting kind of sick of being sweaty and frizzy 24\7.
The other day I was sitting at my desk studying and we had the window open, and I hear these guys walk by and they say “fue una loca de los estados unidos” or in other words “it was a crazy girl from the states” and I was like “oh my gosh how do they know where I live?” and then I realized, maybe they aren’t actually talking about me.  But there aren’t very many other yankees here so who knows haha.
Also, I saw this lady sitting outside reading the Bible.  And i was like “ah, perfect opportunity to give her a Book of Mormon!”  So I’m like running over there super excited, and my companion keeps trying to stop me, and I was super confused why.  And then I look up and realized that she was sitting outside of an evangelica church, and looked a little closer and realized that she was probably the pastor.  And since we aren’t allowed to proselyte in other churches, I realized that contacting the pastor wasn’t a good idea.  Maybe next time!
Okay so this week I was reallyyy studying the last chapter of John.  Christ has already been resurrected, but He’s not around anymore, and the apostles had no idea what to do.  So they go back to their old lives, to what they know best: fishing.  So then Christ comes back and Him and Peter start having a conversation.  And man, I just really love Peter.  We see so many of his weaknesses and downfalls in the New Testament (like as he walked on the water, and doubted; when he denied Christ 3 TIMES; and now he hadn’t kept the church going).  But as hes talking with Christ, Jesus asks him, “Do you love me?”  And Peter is like “duh, of course I love you”.  And Christ proceeds to make the same question twice more, and Peter continues with the same answer “Yes.”  And Jesus tells him: FEED MY SHEEP.  Christ trusted Peter to be His true disciple.  It didn’t matter to Him the mistakes that he had made, and Christ didn’t see him for those things.  Christ saw him for his potential, for who he could become.  Christ knew that Peter would become one of the greatest missionaries to walk this earth.  And Christ knows that, even though maybe we’ve fallen or are discouraged, that we still have the potential to do great things.
This week I was a little bit discouraged, but then I had to ask myself the same question that Christ asked Peter… Do I love Him?  That always gives me a little extra animo.
Love you all so much! Christ lives.  WATCH THE NEW VIDEO.  In Christ, we can have new life!!!
Con cariño,

ps this picture makes me laugh because I’m a giant next to my companion haha

God Will Put Them in Your Path

DSC01436[1]HOLA FAMILIA!

This week went by really fast and I’m struggling to remember what happened, but I’ll do my best!
Okay I don’t usually like to talk about the people we’re teaching with the fear of jinxing their progress (i’m weird I know hahaha) but this week I have decided to try my luck and tell you about Jorge.
So one day, we decided to talk to everyone wearing white shirts.  So we left the apartment, asking God to please put those who need us in our path, preferably in white shirts.  ANYWAYS.  The first person we spot with a white shirt happened to be a man who walked with a limp.  We gave him a pass a long card and testified of Jesus Christ, and he listened with such intent.  He gave us his address to go visit him.  And then when we went, HIS ADDRESS DIDN’T EXIST.  I was so bummed out!!!  But THEN like a week later, we ran into him AGAIN.  And it turns out that even though I’ve been here for over a year, my Spanish skills still aren’t up to par and I had written his address down WRONG.  SO we were able to go by and visit him, and he told us his story.  That he has CANCER, his wife died, and now he’s struggling just to get by. The day we had found him, he left his house and asked God to please put something in his path to help him.  And then we talked to him and testified to him of Jesus Christ.  And he was just amazed that God had answered his prayer.  He even got up and bore his testimony in sacrament meeting yesterday!  I think the best part of being a missionary is knowing you’re following the spirit and are an answer to someone else’s prayer.
It’s also funny because every time we try to call Jorge, his grandson answers the phone and says “STRONG” in a spanish accent and high pitched voice and it cracks me up every time hahaha.
Also I sat down next to this girl on the bus and she was reading her kindle, and I was looking at her kindle like “hey my mom has the same one” and then I realized she was reading in ENGLISH so we had a nice chat in english and turns out she’s like an english translator or something like that. Crazy how the Lord puts people in our path!
A cool translation I learned a while back but would like to share with all of you! : mission = misión = mi sión = my zion. My mission truly is my personal little zion. I’m grateful for every single experience that I’m having and that I have this short little time to serve the people here in Argentina.  It isn’t easy, but every single second has been worth it. I know that Christ lives, and that His church is on the earth today!!
Love you all so much,
Hermana Strong
ps thanks for the package mom
